Summary
New Jersey Medicaid is deleting seven local procedure and modifier codes effective July 1, 2009, and replacing them with national CPT/HCPCS codes. Providers must update billing systems to use the new codes (S9122, S9122 TV, T1001, T1001 76) when submitting claims. One code (Y7448) has no replacement and is deleted entirely. Additionally, providers using the new S9122 codes will now be subject to prior authorization requirements for Personal Care Assistant services.
Action Required
By June 30, 2009: Billing team must update billing software to discontinue acceptance and use of local codes Y7444, Y7445, Y7448, Y7454, Y7455, Z1600, Z1610, Z1613, and Z1614. For all Personal Care Assistant (PCA) and TBI Service Provider claims with dates of service on or after July 1, 2009: (1) Replace Y7444 with S9122; (2) Replace Y7445 with S9122 TV; (3) Delete Y7448 entirely with no replacement code; (4) Replace Y7454 with T1001; (5) Replace Y7455 with T1001 76; (6) Replace Z1600 with S9122; (7) Replace Z1610 with T1001; (8) Replace Z1613 with T1001 76; (9) Replace Z1614 with S9122 TV. Update all claim submission templates and encounter forms. Configure billing system to automatically require prior authorization for all S9122 and S9122 TV claims. Notify all PCA and HCBS Waiver Service providers of the code changes and new prior auth requirements. Claims submitted with deleted local codes will be rejected by New Jersey Medicaid.
