Summary
UnitedHealthcare is acquiring Health Net of the Northeast's NJ Medicaid operations effective May 1, 2010. Health Net will no longer be available as an HMO option for NJ FamilyCare/Medicaid members. Former Health Net members must select a different State-contracted HMO by April 9, 2010, or will be automatically assigned to AmeriChoice.
Action Required
By April 9, 2010: Billing team must update patient insurance records to identify all active patients with Health Net of New Jersey HMO coverage under NJ FamilyCare/Medicaid. Notify clinical and front desk staff that these patients must select alternative State-contracted HMO coverage or will be auto-assigned to AmeriChoice. Update eligibility verification system to recognize plan transitions. Beginning May 1, 2010: Process all claims for affected patients under their new HMO plan assignment. Update claim submission workflows to route Health Net claims to AmeriChoice if patients do not select an alternative plan. Verify correct HMO identification at point of service to prevent claim denials due to incorrect carrier assignment.
