Summary
New Jersey Medicaid is launching a secure web-based Direct Data Entry (DDE) claim submission system via the NJMMIS website, allowing providers to submit claims electronically instead of on paper. Claims can be submitted in multiple formats (CMS-1500, UB-04, MC-9, ADA, etc.) and will be processed on the weekly adjudication cycle. Claims submitted by 5:00 PM Wednesday will appear on the next week's Remittance Advice.

By September 1, 2010: Billing team must transition from paper claims to electronic DDE submission for NJ Medicaid claims. REQUIREMENTS: (1) Register for Direct Data Entry training through Molina Medicaid Solutions Provider Services at 1-800-776-6334; (2) Obtain secure username and password for NJMMIS website access (www.njmmis.com); (3) Update billing procedures to submit claims electronically via the 'Submit DDE Claim' function in the left navigation bar; (4) Select the appropriate claim format from available options (CMS-1500, UB-04, MC-9, MC-12, MC-19, ADA); (5) Note that Medicare Crossover claims and TPL claims passing reasonability tests no longer require EOB attachments, but denied claims and TPL claims failing reasonability tests still require paper submission with denial EOB; (6) Retain Internal Control Number (ICN) received as confirmation and print hardcopy for records; (7) Wait for weekly adjudication cycle completion before calling Provider Services; (8) Review revised Fiscal Agent Billing Supplement at www.njmmis.com. CONSEQUENCES: Paper claims may be rejected; turnaround time will improve with electronic submission; manual handling errors will decrease.
