Summary
Effective January 1, 2013, all healthcare professionals who refer, order, operate, prescribe, or attend to New Jersey Medicaid/Charity Care patients must enroll as either 'billing' or 'non-billing' providers in the NJ Medicaid program. Claims will be denied if the prescribing/referring provider is not enrolled or if valid NPIs are not included on claims.
Action Required
By January 1, 2013: All providers who refer, order, prescribe, or attend to NJ Medicaid/Charity Care patients must enroll as 'non-billing' providers using Form FD-20B at www.njmmis.com or call 609-588-6036. Billing team must ensure all claims include valid NPIs for referring/prescribing providers. Claims will be denied without proper provider enrollment and NPI reporting.
