Summary
New Jersey Medicaid is transitioning from a 7-digit Provider ID system to NPI-only identification in the new R-MMIS claims processing system launching in late 2018. Providers with multiple Provider IDs linked to the same NPI, or those without NPI information on file, must respond to an NPI Data Confirmation Request Form from Molina Medicaid Solutions to avoid claim payment interruptions. After R-MMIS implementation, NPI will be the sole provider identifier for New Jersey Medicaid.
Action Required
Before late 2018 R-MMIS implementation: (1) Billing team must monitor for NPI Data Confirmation Request Form from Molina Medicaid Solutions at 1-800-776-6334. (2) Providers must complete and return the form promptly, documenting all existing Provider ID/NPI relationships and establishing new relationships if needed per State requirements. (3) Update billing system configuration to use NPI as the primary provider identifier for New Jersey Medicaid/NJCC/NJFC claims; discontinue reliance on 7-digit Provider IDs. (4) Verify that all NJCC/NJFC provider records in billing software have current NPI information on file. (5) Ensure each active Provider ID is associated with a unique NPI per new requirements. Failure to respond to the confirmation request and update systems before R-MMIS go-live will result in claim payment interruptions and rejections.
