Summary

Effective November 1, 2018, New Jersey changed the authorization process for Personal Care Assistance (PCA) services under Fee-For-Service NJ FamilyCare (Medicaid). Instead of the Division of Disability Services handling authorizations, providers must now submit PCA assessments to specific Medical Assistance Customer Centers (MACC) based on their county location.

Action Required

Action needed
For providers serving NJ FamilyCare Fee-For-Service recipients: Submit all Personal Care Assistance assessment requests to the appropriate Medical Assistance Customer Center based on your county (Camden, Essex, Monmouth, or Passaic MACC). Use the State-approved PCA assessment tool and send to the correct MACC address and contact information listed in the policy. This applies only until patients are enrolled in managed care plans.
