Summary
New Jersey Medicaid has implemented enhanced security procedures for NJMMIS login credential exchanges effective immediately. Key changes include: passwords and usernames will no longer be sent together in a single letter, credentials are valid for only 30 days before requiring reapplication, registration and credential letters will be sent separately via certified mail, and terminated providers cannot request new credentials. These changes apply to all providers and submitters accessing the New Jersey Medicaid Management Information System.
Action Required
Immediately: Billing team and all provider staff accessing NJMMIS must be notified of new credential procedures. When DXC Technology sends password reset letters going forward, expect only the new password (username will be sent separately). Immediately update internal processes: (1) Staff should no longer expect username and password in the same letter; (2) Any received credentials are valid for 30 calendar days only—set calendar reminders to reapply before expiration; (3) Expect registration letters and credential letters as separate mailings via certified mail; (4) If your practice has terminated or cancelled provider/submitter status, do not attempt to request new credentials from DXC Technology as requests will be declined; (5) When accessing NJMMIS, users may be prompted to enter or update an email address if none is on file. Update staff training materials and distribute this alert to all personnel handling NJMMIS access. Maintain this alert for future reference.
