Summary
New Jersey Medicaid will no longer accept HCPCS code H0001 HF for drug/alcohol clinic assessments effective May 1, 2020. Providers must now use CPT codes 90791 HF or 90792 HF for comprehensive assessments in substance abuse treatment facilities.
Action Required
Before May 1, 2020: Billing team must update system to stop using HCPCS code H0001 HF for drug/alcohol clinic assessments. Replace with CPT 90791 HF (comprehensive assessment) or CPT 90792 HF (comprehensive assessment with medical services). Update encounter forms and train providers on proper code selection. Claims using H0001 HF will no longer be processed by New Jersey Medicaid.
