Summary
New Jersey Medicaid requires all personal care services providers to comply with Electronic Visit Verification (EVV) mandates by January 1, 2021. Providers must complete a survey by October 23, 2020, selecting one of three EVV compliance options (free health plan tools, existing EVV system, or free HHAeXchange tools) to timestamp and electronically verify all in-home visits.
Action Required
By October 23, 2020: Billing/administrative team must complete the New Jersey DMAHS Provider Questionnaire at http://hhaexchange.com/njdmahs-evv/ selecting one of three EVV compliance options. By January 1, 2021: Implement selected EVV system to electronically record and timestamp all personal care services visits (member, caregiver, location, date, service type). Ensure billing system integrates with chosen EVV solution to avoid claim denials. Contact mahs.evv@dhs.state.nj.us with implementation questions. Failure to implement EVV by the effective date will result in non-compliance with Medicaid requirements and potential claim denials.
