Summary
New Jersey Medicaid is discontinuing acceptance of 9 HCPCS modifiers (RP, 20, 75, L1, 21, QV, ZA, ZB, ZC) effective immediately. Additionally, two eyeglass frame repair codes (Y9787 and V2020 RP 22) are being terminated and replaced with V2020 RB for claims with service dates after July 31, 2021.
Action Required
IMMEDIATELY: Billing team must stop appending modifiers RP, 20, 75, L1, 21, QV, ZA, ZB, and ZC to any HCPCS/CPT codes on New Jersey Medicaid claims. Claims submitted with these modifiers will be rejected. BEFORE AUGUST 1, 2021: Update billing software to terminate use of HCPCS codes Y9787 and V2020 RP 22 for eyeglass frame repairs. Effective for all service dates after July 31, 2021, replace these codes with V2020 RB. Train providers and billing staff on the new code mapping.
