Summary
New Jersey Medicaid is adopting additional NCPDP telecommunication standards for Schedule II-V controlled drug prescriptions. Pharmacies must report Submission Clarification Code '10' in NCPDP field 414-DE to bypass Error Code 2331 denials for prescriptions exceeding the 30-day dispensing rule when multiple prescriptions share the same written date but have future dispense dates.
Action Required
Immediately: Pharmacy billing teams must update their NCPDP claim submission process to include Submission Clarification Code (SCC) value '10' in field 414-DE for Schedule II-V controlled drug prescriptions that have the same written date but future dispense dates exceeding 30 days. Update billing software to automatically include this code when applicable. Claims without SCC value '10' that conflict with the 30-day rule will be denied with Error Code 2331.
