Action Required

Action needed
Immediately: Billing team must ensure NJ FamilyCare claims for COVID-19 vaccines are processed without requiring a prescription or medical necessity documentation. Verify that billing system does not deny claims for COVID-19 vaccines based on lack of prescription or underlying condition evidence. Contact MCOs to confirm coverage policies align with this guidance. Update any internal billing guidelines or prior authorization rules that previously required prescriptions or condition documentation for COVID-19 vaccine claims. No changes needed if current workflows already process these claims without such requirements.
