Summary
MO HealthNet (Missouri Medicaid) updated COVID-19 personal care services effective August 1, 2020. Health and welfare checks are now limited to 5 hours (20 units) per month within existing authorization levels and must use standard personal care codes T1019 or T1019U2. The special COVID codes T1019SC and T1019U2SC are discontinued.
Action Required
Immediately: Stop billing discontinued codes T1019SC and T1019U2SC for health and welfare checks. Update billing system to use T1019 (Agency Model) or T1019U2 (Consumer Directed Model) instead. Ensure health and welfare check units stay within the 20-unit monthly limit and existing authorization levels. Update encounter forms and notify personal care staff of the 5-hour monthly limit.
