Summary
MO HealthNet is updating their Preferred Drug List for insulin agents effective January 11, 2024. Several insulin products are moving from preferred to non-preferred status, including Levemir (discontinued), Humalog products, and NovoLog products, while generic insulin formulations are being promoted to preferred status.
Action Required
By January 11, 2024: Billing team must update prior authorization workflows for MO HealthNet patients using non-preferred insulin agents (Levemir, Humalog Cartridge/Vial, NovoLog FlexPen/Vial, Humalog Mix products, NovoLog Mix 70/30). Update encounter forms to indicate preferred generic alternatives (Insulin Aspart, Insulin Lispro Vial) for new prescriptions. Existing compliant patients can continue non-preferred therapy without changes.
