Summary

MDwise is exiting Indiana's Hoosier Healthwise and Healthy Indiana Plan (HIP) effective January 1, 2026. Affected members must select a new managed care plan by December 15, 2025, or be auto-assigned to another MCE. Providers must verify member eligibility during the 90-day transition period and update prior authorization requests with CareSource or applicable vendors as MDwise authorizations expire.

Action Required

Action needed
By December 15, 2025: Billing team must prepare for member transitions from MDwise to new managed care plans. Beginning January 1, 2026: (1) Verify all HIP and Hoosier Healthwise member eligibility at each visit and in billing system prior to claim submission—do NOT assume coverage continues; (2) For all prior authorizations originally approved by MDwise (medical, dental, pharmacy), honor them through the 90-day transition period or until expiration/units exhausted, whichever is first; (3) Upon MDwise prior auth expiration or unit exhaustion, immediately submit new prior authorization requests to CareSource or applicable management vendor—claims submitted without updated authorization will be denied; (4) For providers not currently contracted with CareSource: apply to become a participating provider via CareSource's Become a Participating Provider web page (must be enrolled in Indiana Health Coverage Programs/IHCP first); (5) For current CareSource participating providers with PMP panels: increase panel sizes or remove any holds to accommodate transitioning members. Contact CareSource Provider Services at 1-844-607-2831 (Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.–8 p.m. ET) with questions.
