Summary
Medical Mutual is temporarily waiving prior authorization requirements for patient transitions from acute care hospitals to skilled nursing facilities from December 21, 2022 through January 23, 2023. This temporary policy change is due to increased acute admissions and will be re-evaluated after the end date.
Action Required
Immediately through Jan 23, 2023: Case management and discharge planning staff should note that Medical Mutual patients transitioning from acute to skilled nursing facilities do not require prior authorization. Update discharge workflow to reflect temporary waiver. After Jan 23, 2023: Resume normal prior authorization processes for these transitions unless further guidance is provided.
