Summary
Oklahoma hospitals must now distribute opioid antagonists (naloxone) to patients presenting with opioid-related issues in emergency departments and upon discharge. SoonerCare (Oklahoma Medicaid) will provide separate reimbursement using specific HCPCS codes for these take-home naloxone supplies.
Action Required
Immediately: Hospital billing teams must add HCPCS codes G1028 and G2215 to billing systems for naloxone distribution. Update encounter forms and EMR templates to capture naloxone provision in emergency departments and upon inpatient discharge for SoonerCare members. Ensure clinical staff document opioid-related presentations to support billing.
