Summary

Kentucky Medicaid is implementing a new certification requirement for substance use disorder (SUD) residential treatment facilities beginning July 1, 2021, requiring ASAM Level of Care certification. Providers can obtain provisional certification through self-attestation between November 15, 2019 and January 1, 2020.

Action needed
By January 1, 2020: SUD residential treatment providers (BHSO Tier III only) must submit self-attestation to Kentucky Medicaid for Provisional Residential LOC Certification. Attend mandatory webinar on November 6, 2019 at 1:00 PM. By July 1, 2021: Obtain full ASAM Level of Care Certification to continue billing Kentucky Medicaid for residential SUD services. Failure to obtain certification will result in loss of Medicaid billing eligibility for these services.
