Summary
Kentucky Medicaid will begin covering buprenorphine services in Narcotic Treatment Programs (NTPs) effective July 1, 2020. The methadone induction code H0033 will be discontinued and replaced with unified code H0016 for both methadone and buprenorphine induction, with new bundled MAT services available.
Action Required
By June 30, 2020: Billing team must stop using H0033 for methadone induction and switch to H0016 for both methadone and buprenorphine induction. Update billing system to include new buprenorphine MAT bundle H0047 at $115 weekly rate. Add HF modifier requirement to all NTP billing codes. Update encounter forms and train staff on new bundled services that cannot be billed separately.
