Summary
Kentucky CCBHCs (Provider Type 16) will no longer be able to bill primary care services that are not part of the 9 required demonstration services starting September 1, 2023. These excluded primary care services must be billed through Provider Type 30 instead, and PPS rates will be rebased retroactively to exclude primary care costs back to January 1, 2023.
Action Required
By September 1, 2023: Kentucky CCBHC billing teams must stop billing primary care services not on the approved CCBHC billing code list under Provider Type 16. Set up billing through Provider Type 30 for these excluded primary care services. Update billing system to restrict primary care codes under PT 16 except for specific primary care screening and monitoring codes approved for the demonstration. Review and separate primary care billing workflows between the two provider types.
