Summary
Kentucky Medicaid has expanded Non-Emergency Medical Transportation (NEMT) services for methadone treatment to cover the entire Medicaid population. Previously, NEMT for methadone treatment was only available to children under 21, former foster care youth, and pregnant women.
Action Required
NEMT providers in Kentucky should update their eligibility verification processes to accept all Kentucky Medicaid members for transportation to methadone treatment at licensed Narcotic Treatment Programs. Contact Division of Health Care Policy at divisionofhealthcarepolicy@ky.gov with questions.
