Summary
Kentucky Medicaid is changing therapy services requirements effective April 1, 2024. Physician signatures will no longer be required on Plans of Care (POC), but physician orders are still required. Signatures are only needed for significant POC modifications or every six months.
Action Required
By April 1, 2024: Update therapy billing workflows to ensure physician orders are obtained for all therapy services as required by 907 KAR 8:040 Section 2(2)(c), but stop requiring physician signatures on Plans of Care. Therapy staff must coordinate POC with physician offices and obtain signatures only for significant modifications or every six months. Update documentation templates and staff training for Kentucky Medicaid therapy claims.
